To develop seasonal sales plans by store and execute these plans to make targeted gross profit by store through allocating stock in correct proportions to meet forecasted sales demand. Forecast core item/style sales on the system and raise orders to meet forecasted demand in line with category open to buy. Manage the system and Fashion Picks to ensure stores are suitably replenished from Post. Conduct analysis on store sales trends and ensure that stores remain in stock both in volume and in having the correct assortment according to customer demand.

Support other members of the merchandise team in ensuring that all budgets are met as agreed in respect of sales, markdowns, closing stock covers, service levels and stock turn.Ensure that each store meets the forecast gross profit Rands for given merchandise categories, and maintains the minimum service level percentage in core items as per management direction to achieve budget.
Post Mortem Analysis:
Perform store Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis of the previous season and create a (zero based) sales plan by store taking into account adjustments made to historical sales in order to analyse post-season assortment performance.
Grade stores by category based on the relevant store grading factors, including but not limited to Store Rating, sales and events such as expansions/revamps, to order effectively allocate stock to stores based on grade.
Report on key performance indicators (KPI’s) to ensure product performance is updated.
Pre-season Planning:
Develop (SP and RP) sales plans by store for the required window as per RPAS (internal system) Location Planning process to ensure pre-planning processes are completed.
Liaise with Merchandise Planner regarding category and sub department strategies to comprehend in sales plan.
Liaise with Operations to comprehend store growth strategies in sales plan.
Communicate with Operations to ensure store space allocation is optimal as per master matrix.
In-season Planning:
Review current plan weekly to ensure sales trends are catered for and that open to ship (OTS) numbers are reasonable, taking into account current trade, supply issues, store events such as expansions/revamps and any other factors affecting sales or inputs to ensure strategic allocations are completed weekly/ fortnightly.
Identify problem stores and propose action plans to correct out-of-stock situations, communicating with relevant Area Managers to ensure store co-operation.
Report on relevant post stock and Distribution Centre (DC) cover levels to maintain the correct store profile for their sub-department.
Deal with and take action with regards to customer requests to ensure service levels are maintained.
Store Stock Management:
Conduct regular store visits to keep in touch with store needs and complete store visit checklist.
Plan stock to be saved according to agreed plans for new, revamped and relocated stores.
Regular liaison with Area Managers regarding their stores’ performance and allocation criteria to complete regionalized departmental performance tracking.
Manage weekly closing stock covers by store to ensure even cover spreads and take action to correct outliers.
Forecasting Core:
Review and correct history to forecast correctly by store.
Update Manuals with news stores to ensure store receives stock.
Continual assessment forecasting adjustments where necessary to ensure system is updated.
Allocations:
Create allocations to stores in line with product strategies and OTS needs as per current plan in order for stores to receive the right stock at the right time.
Review weekly stock balances reflected by cover spreads to account for stock imbalance in future allocations.
Pick Maintenance/Core Item Performance (CIP):
Continuously review Pick Maintenance / CIP for relevant categories to ensure adequate post and DC cover.
Fashion (relevant categories): First Drop to be actioned as per Stock Management Flow (SMF).
Complete 2 Weeks cover in Post to maintain product flow to stores.
Handle peak season according to management direction to ensure the right stock is in the right store at the right time in the right quantity.
Consolidations:
As per In-Season analysis stores should be monitored according to performance and special needs, consolidating stock where necessary and approved by management to ensure correct stock levels in store.
Report on KPI’s to monitor product assortment performance.
requirements
Education:
Degree/Diploma: Bachelor of Commerce (Finance/ Supply Chain)
Experience:
2 Years’ experience in a similar position (Merchandise / Location Planner role)
Knowledge/ Skills:
Retail planning/demand & supply and merchant processes.
Business understanding of internal systems ( RedWorld, RedWorld MIS, RedInfo, RPAS, etc.).
